Quick answer

Bring the device that must connect to the rental, test one real workflow, photograph the pick manifest and pack layout, then verify the return plan before you leave. During the private beta, a request is not a charge or calendar hold. StanHattie confirms the exact item, dates, included pieces and handoff before payment.

This checklist is for Des Moines production-gear pickup and for any approved local handoff of one-job technology. It turns "the case looked complete" into evidence: an item identity, a functional test, a list of included pieces and a documented starting condition.

It does not create cancellation, late-return, damage, insurance, deposit or identity policies. Those details are not published in the current prototype and must come from the confirmed order or rental agreement. If a term is not written there, ask rather than importing a rule from another rental company.

Send a complete request before pickup

A useful request gives StanHattie enough context to reject a mismatch before anyone drives across Des Moines. Include the exact job, not only the product name.

  • Requested item and the result it must produce.
  • Pickup and return dates, plus the actual event or shoot time.
  • Des Moines-area location type and ZIP code, without posting a private address publicly.
  • Camera body, computer, microphone, playback source, hub or other system that must connect.
  • Every required mount, trigger, cable, adapter, battery, media card and support item.
  • Indoor or outdoor use, expected audience or crew size and available power.
  • Weather backup, alternate room or alternate date when the job depends on conditions.
  • Accessibility needs for the handoff or equipment instructions.
  • Budget and any deadline that makes a research candidate impractical.

Every launch rental, including one-job technology, uses staffed local pickup and return in Des Moines. Shipping and delivery are unavailable. The exact appointment location appears only on a confirmed order. Build travel time from that confirmed location, not from an assumption.

Availability boundary

Catalog availability is an estimate until the production system confirms a finite hold. Do not announce equipment, sell a service around it or cancel a backup solely because an item appears on the page.

Inspect the manifest line by line

Set aside enough handoff time to open every case. The person receiving the equipment should perform the inspection, because that person knows the planned workflow and will recognize a missing adapter.

  1. Match the item identity

Compare the exact model and serial or asset label with the pick manifest. Similar versions can use different mounts, radio systems, batteries or menus.

  2. Inspect condition in good light

Look at glass, screens, ports, controls, housings, cases and cable ends. Photograph existing marks without handling sensitive surfaces more than necessary.

  3. Count every loose piece

Read the manifest aloud and place each cap, battery, charger, remote, adapter, cable and support part beside its line. Do not assume a normally supplied manufacturer accessory is in this rental.

  4. Run the real connection test

Use the camera body, laptop, microphone or source you brought. Power on, perform a short task, review the output and reconnect once to prove the process is repeatable.

  5. Photograph the packed layout

Take one clear photo of each open case before repacking. That reference speeds return and shows where small pieces belong without forcing them into the wrong slot.

  6. Confirm the handoff facts

Verify return time and place, the approved contact method and the process for reporting a fault. Use the confirmed order, not this guide, as the authority for terms.

Use a test that matches the category

Minimum functional proof before leaving handoff
Item Bring Test Confirm
Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S Your Nikon Z body, charged battery and media Mount, autofocus, zoom, aperture and files at 24mm and 70mm Front and rear caps, hood, case and any 82mm filter on the manifest
Godox AD400Pro Your camera and camera-specific transmitter Trigger, channel, manual-power change and recycle behavior Battery, charger, mount, modifier, stand and ballast only if listed
Zoom F6 One real microphone, XLR cable, headphones and approved media Record, monitor, stop, play back and inspect the file Power, card, Bluetooth adapter, timecode cable and audio cables only if listed
Nebula Mars 3 Your laptop or player and exact video adapter Project the source, play local media, test sound and reconnect Power, remote, case, playback adapter and screen requirements
One-job technology Photos, model labels and the approved test plan Only the bounded non-destructive function agreed in advance Account cleanup, reset owner, support window and return state

The AD400Pro is a photographic flash, not a general continuous-light rental for video interviews. The F6 is a recorder, not a complete microphone kit. The Nikon item is a lens, not a camera body. The projector page does not yet confirm a screen or playback adapter. These distinctions are why the pick manifest controls.

Use published rates only for planning

Use each current item page for its catalog rates: the Nikon lens offer, Godox AD400Pro offer, Zoom F6 offer, and Nebula Mars 3 offer. Do not copy rates into a worksheet until the item pages have been checked for the requested dates.

Adding published rates is an arithmetic illustration, not a package, quote, reservation, or promise that the items are available together. The Bali remote-rescue candidate is a separate nonbookable research pilot, not a commercial offer. Confirm every amount in the server-calculated quote before relying on it.

Do not calculate taxes, authorizations, delivery, support or other terms from this guide. The current site does not publish enough information to do so accurately.

Plan for Des Moines transport and weather

Check the National Weather Service forecast the day before and again before leaving. Central Iowa conditions can change the load-in even when the shoot remains indoors. Rain affects open cases and cable paths. Heat and cold affect batteries, condensation risk and the safety of gear left in a vehicle.

  • Keep equipment in its closed case until it reaches a dry setup area.
  • Do not leave rental gear unattended in a parked vehicle.
  • Use a cart or second person for loads that cannot be carried with a clear view of steps and doors.
  • Confirm parking, loading access, stairs, elevators and venue doors with the location.
  • Protect cases from salt, snow, standing water, mud and wet grass.
  • Allow cold equipment to adjust inside its closed case before exposing sensitive surfaces to warmer humid air.
  • Keep projector vents, strobe heads and audio connections clear of fabric and weather covers while operating.
  • Secure stands, modifiers, screens and cables against wind and public traffic.

Never place a case where a wheel, door, audience member or rolling cart can strike it. At downtown, school, park and event locations, ask the venue about access and amplified sound rather than assuming a rental grants permission.

Protect the known-good setup during the job

After the preflight passes, change only what the shot or event requires. Save a phone photo of important settings before experimenting. Label audio inputs and cables. Keep lens caps in one pocket of the case. Return projector remotes and adapters to one controlled staging area between uses.

For media, record a short file and play it back before the first important take. Back up renter-owned cards before formatting or changing record modes. Do not install firmware, open equipment, attempt repairs or apply cleaning fluid. A field failure should become a documented report, not an unsupervised repair project.

Keep drinks and food on a different surface. Assign one person to watch any lighting stand or outdoor screen. If rain, unstable wind, condensation, overheating, damaged power or unexpected mechanical behavior appears, stop and protect people first, then equipment.

Change log

When a setting must change, write down the original and new value. This is especially useful for recorder sample rate, timecode mode, projector input, flash radio channel and a connected one-job device. A two-line note can save a long return inspection.

Complete the return before closing the case

  1. Finish the customer's files

Copy and verify renter-owned recordings or presentation files. Remove personal media and sign out of any account used on a connected source.

  2. Power down and let equipment cool

Use normal controls, disconnect power without pulling cables and allow hot or vented equipment to reach a safe packing state in a dry area.

  3. Restore agreed settings

Use the pickup photos and change log. Do not improvise a factory reset. Connected technology may require account removal or a specific cleanup order first.

  4. Match the manifest again

Count each cap, cable, adapter, battery, charger, remote and case piece. Compare placement with the open-case photo and avoid forcing a lid.

  5. Document changed condition

Photograph and report any new mark, impact, liquid exposure, error, missing piece or intermittent behavior before handoff. Include the circumstances, not a diagnosis.

  6. Use the confirmed return plan

Follow the exact time, place and contact method on the order. Extensions are disabled at launch, and this guide cannot change the confirmed return appointment.

Report a problem with useful evidence

A required piece is missing at pickup

Stop the handoff and compare the manifest. Do not substitute an unknown cable, mount or power supply. Update the confirmed scope only after the replacement passes the same functional test.

The item fails during the job

Record the time, power source, connected equipment, settings, exact message or indicator and what happened immediately before failure. Photograph the setup safely. Do not repeat an action that causes heat, odor, smoke, liquid exposure or unsafe movement.

A small piece cannot be found

Use the case photo and search the controlled setup zone, pockets, cable bins and transport path. Do not hide the loss or replace it with a visually similar part. Report what is missing before return.

The case became wet

Move it to a dry safe area without energizing wet equipment. Record the source and extent of exposure and contact StanHattie through the confirmed order channel for next steps.

Local source: Use the National Weather Service Des Moines office for the current forecast and hazardous-weather information. Use each StanHattie item page and order-specific pick manifest for inventory and rates. Manufacturer package lists are not proof that the same pieces are included in a rental.
